Minority Businesses

Certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)

As a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), you will have the opportunity to promote your business and services to prospective corporate buyers and have access to local business development programs and events.

Southern California Minority Supplier Development Council (SCMSDC) is one of the largest nonprofit minority business advocacy organizations in the region.  As one of 23 councils affiliated with the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), SCMSDC represents the interests of more than 600,000 Minority Businesses and serves over 1,100 NMSDC-Certified MBE’s and 1700 National Corporate members throughout a 13 county service area.

By certifying through SCMSDC, you will have access to local business development programs and events. Your company will be listed in the national minority supplier database, which is accessed by corporations locally and across the country, looking for qualified suppliers for contract opportunities.

As a first time applicant, you must meet the eligibility requirements for certification.  If you meet the requirements, you can apply online and submit an application via NMSDC’s application system. If you are approved as an MBE, then you will be registered into the national database and become part of SCMSDC’s network of MBE’s. Certified MBE’s are required to re-certify each year in order to maintain certified status.
