Bakare adds, “I am very excited to be joining the SCMSDC board on behalf of Charter Communications as we deepen our knowledge and actively engage with the diverse supplier base in Southern California. I look forward to making a meaningful contribution to the success of SCMSDC’s mission.”
He is responsible for the efficient and effective operational performance of the company with a focus on employee engagement, customer satisfaction and operations excellence. Prior to this role, which he assumed in 2016 as a result of Charter’s acquisition of Time Warner Cable, Bakare was responsible for Charter’s field operations throughout the state of California. Before joining Charter in 2014, he served in multiple leadership roles at Time Warner Cable in both Southern California and Central Ohio. He began his telecommunications career at Nextel Communications and later joined Comcast Cable.
Bakare received an undergraduate degree in political science at Lagos State University, Nigeria, and graduate degree in telecommunications management from University of Maryland University College. He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School – Cable Executive Management Program and the NAMIC Executive Leadership Development Program at UCLA Anderson School of Management.
He has received numerous awards and honors, including making his fifth appearance on Cablefax Magazine’s list of Most Influential Minorities in the Cable Industry and recipient of NAMIC’s Luminary Award. Bakare also channels his resources to ensure that African American students with dreams of a college education get an opportunity.
