The Amgen Mentorship Program

The Amgen Mentorship Program supports MBEs through a free, one-year business sustainability program focused on business planning, professionalism & operational management.

Description:

Amgen is committed to the sustainable growth of diverse-owned businesses and their success. Business owners can expect their mentors to provide consultation in areas of expertise while offering industry insights. The protégé is expected to commit to their own development, and take ownership of the development process while being open to constructive feedback and industry insights shared by their mentor.

The program is designed to support MBE development in the following broad areas:

Business Planning

  • Define company shared values and actions.
  • Provide company background and profile information in an executive summary format, as well as formal visual and verbal presentations.

Professionalism

  • Utilize techniques and input to enhance professional and personal brand image.
  • Understand the wants and needs of your client.
    • Identify and improve communication skills that display exemplary professional behavior.

Operational Management

  • Understand the contribution your organization can make to the competitiveness of the business line.
  • Working knowledge of external and internal effects of operations performance objectives – quality, speed, dependability, flexibility, and cost.
  • Build and foster business relationships and strategic partnerships.

MBEs can expect their mentor to provide consultation in areas of expertise while offering industry insights. The protégé is expected to commit to his/her own development and take ownership of the development process while being open to feedback and insights shared by the mentor.

Qualifications:

  1. Be a certified MBE, or in the process of becoming one
  2. Provide relevant goods and services
  3. Be committed to growth and development
  4. Pledge to be an active and engaged participant

MBEs will attend a kick-off call in March, date TBD. Detailed information will be provided once accepted into the program.

Selected AMP applicants will be notified by Amgen.
